Join a national campaign against corporate personhood! Some of our own Occupiers have gone to Washington D.C. to Occupy Congress. Show your solidarity here in Reno, where we’re working to convince the City Council to denounce the notion that corporations have the same rights as people.
Tuesday (1/17): Occupy Congress in solidarity with the national movement. We have a permit to demonstrate at the Bruce R. Thompson Courthouse & Federal Building, 400 S Virginia, 8am to 6pm. Occupy Carson City will join us from 11am to 1pm.
Wednesday (1/18): General Assembly at Moana Springs 6 p.m.
Friday (1/20): Occupy the Courts. We have a permit to demonstrate at the Bruce R. Thompson Courthouse & Federal Building, 400 S Virginia, 8am to 3:30pm. However, we will be asking for a volunteer to take ownership for the permit at the GA on 1/18.
Saturday (1/21): General Assembly outside City Hall at 1 p.m. followed by March in protest of the Citizens United v. Supreme Court decision. We will be marching in the streets of downtown to the Federal Building with RPD escorts. Stay tuned for more details on Saturday coming soon! This is going to be BIG.
*PLEASE NOTE: THE SATURDAY G.A. WILL BE HELD AT CITY HALL, NOT AT MOANA SPRINGS.
Wednesday (1/25): Reno City Council Meeting. We are on the agenda to petition the City to speak out against corporate personhood. We will be presenting the Council with the signed letters from all of you!
Occupy City Hall will be outside City Hall Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Close to 1,000 letters have been signed in support of the Bernie Sanders petition. Come down and sign yours too!
